Norman Weekend...

So I went to the contempory worship service at McFarlin in Norman today.  And who comes in and sits two rows in front of me but the Bob Stoops family.  How cool is that?

It was funny at the end of the service because the pastor was doing an announcement about a tailgate they are doing next Saturday before the game.  So the pastor says something like "Well, we're 1-0, which is a much better start than last year.  Last year was the first time I was here for an OU game and when we came in here that Sunday it seemed like someone died.  It was almost a funeral.  Actually, most funerals are actually a little more cheerful than that Sunday was."

So of course tons of people in my section that knew Bob was there kinda turned to him to see his reaction.  I couldn't see since there was someone in between us, but it was still classic.

Overall it was a very fun weekend.  Getting to watch us beat UAB, doing the McFarlin service which I have missed, and an awesome round of Ultimate Frisbee this afternoon!  Although this evening my knees are starting to ache on me.  Signs of being old I guess!

Have a great week!
Mike.

Prayers please...

I'm usually not one to ask for much, but in this case I figure the more prayers that can go up the better.  My mom called me this afternoon and told me that my dad has been diagnosed with lung cancer.  It was found during a routine physical.  Unfortunatly, the cancer is located in a place where they might not be able to operate.  There are still some doctor visits and such going on to determine the best course of action, but there will definitely be chemotherapy and the such.

So, please be sure to lift both of my parents, Bill and Karen Browning, up in your prayers as you can.  They have both been incredible parents to me and now I can only hope that I can help them out in the same way as needed.  Right now, I'm doing fine, but might use this as a way to voice my thoughts and such as they come.

God Bless!

Mike.

Oklahoma starting quarterback Rhett Bomar will not play for the Sooners this season following an investigation by the team, sources told ESPN's Joe Schad and ESPN.com's Mark Schlabach on Wednesday.

Holy crap!

Just in case you haven't read it yet...

"Oklahoma's Kelvin Sampson is leaving the school to become the next head coach at Indiana, multiple sources told ESPN.com."

Should be interesting to see where the Oklahoma basketball program goes from here.  My heads off to a great 12 years at OU, including all 5 of my great years at OU.  Sampson got a lot of grief, but how many schools would love to go to the NCAA 11 times in a 12 year span including a Final Four appearance.

I just clinched my first Tournament Bracket victory today!  Nothing like having to root for George Mason.  I must say it has been a great tournament though.  How many games have come down to the buzzer or have gone to overtime?!  Shows how much parady there is in college basketball now.
